The Green Climate Fund (GCF) held a workshop in Bali, Indonesia, on 21-25 April, to discuss the operationalization of REDD+ results-based payments and general support by the Fund for the implementation of REDD+.

The workshop brought together experts and representatives of civil society and indigenous peoples to discuss these topics, building on their experience and the lessons learned so far in the implementation of REDD+. The results of the event will guide the design of the Request for Proposals for results-based payments, to be launched later this year. To date, Brazil is the only country eligible to receive REDD+ results-based payments in accordance with the rules of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Operationalization should be undertaken in accordance with the Warsaw Framework and other REDD+ decisions agreed under the UNFCCC, in order to enable REDD+ efforts from developing countries to contribute to the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the Nationally Determined Contributions that support it.
