Published: Thursday, 29 September 2016 14:35 | Last Updated: Thursday, 11 October 2018 16:24

The ad hoc Thematic Advisory Board on Federative Relations will work to support the National REDD+ Committee in promoting convergence and complementarity among climate change and forests related public policies at the federal, state and municipal level.

This Advisory Board will focus on supporting the National REDD+ Committee in:

i) developing a capacity building plan on REDD+ under the UNFCCC to state and municipal public servants;

ii) developing a survey to identify REDD+ related initiatives being implemented by the states;

iii) defining guidelines to promote coherence between jurisdictional REDD+ programs and the National REDD+ Strategy;

iv) preparing progress reports on REDD+ related strategic initiatives at the federal, state, and municipal levels and proposing measures to promote convergence and complementarity among the relevant public policies.

The Thematic Advisory Board on the Federative Relations is composed of 30 members. The selection of the members was based on the criteria set by the National REDD+ Committee to include:

a) representatives from as many states as possible;

b) representatives from municipalities engaged in initiatives to combat deforestation articulated by the federal government;

c) specialists in climate change and forests related public policies and initiatives.

The ad hoc Thematic Advisory Board on the Federative Relations operated from July 2016 to August 2018, having had its duration reestablished by the National REDD+ Committee through Resolution no 11 (Portuguese only).
