Spatial information related to the Amazonia biome
Decision 13/CP.19 provides the guidelines and procedures for the technical assessment of FREL submissions. One of the criteria reffers to the submitting country making available all the information and data necessary to allow for the complete reconstruction of the FREL. The same is applicable to the evaluation of the REDD+ technical annex of the Biennial Update Report: as set by decision 14/CP.19, all the information used to measure the results must be made available.
In order to meet the requirements set by these decisions, Brazil presents this guide for accessing the relevant information and data related the Amazonia biome submissions.

This link presents the data used in the calculation of emissions from gross deforestation year by year, components of the forest reference emission level. The data and information provided applies to FREL A, B and C.

Deforestation polygons
This folder presents items 1 to 7 of those listed under Section 6 of the REDD+ Technical Annex to the Second BUR "Necessary information that allows for the reconstruction of the results" and items 1 to 4 in the FREL C, section b.1.
Deforestation under cloud cover
This folder presents information and data regarding deforestation under cloud cover and the calculation of the adjusted deforestation increment (WORKSHEET-PLANILHA-CALCULO.xlsx). The information presented also allows the calculation of the adjusted deforestation increment for years 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. The content of this folder covers the items 7 and 9 of Section 6 of the REDD+ Technical Annex "Necessary information that allows for the reconstruction of the results" and items 5 and 6 of the FREL C, section b.1 (deforestation under cloud cover and its associated forest type and emission).
Other relevant information and data
This folder contains other relevant information, related to the process of developing the FRELs Amazonia and the first and second Technical Annexes, as well as a simple guide to the the calculation of the adjusted deforestation increment for the FREL C.
Step 4. Complementary information on deforestation monitoring and the processing of images
TerraAmazon
A GIS tool developed by the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) to handle vectorial data using multi-temporal satellite images. It is the software used in the processing of images required for the calculation of the forest reference emission level.

Deforestation Monitoring System
PRODES is the project responsible for monitoring deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon with satellite images. It produces, since 1988, the annual rates of deforestation in the region, which is key to inform public policy design by the the Brazilian government. The annual rates are estimated from the increments of deforestation identified in each satellite image that cover the Amazon.

Caveat: only data refering exclusively to the Brazilian Amazon biome have been used to calculate the reference level submitted by Brazil. The limits of the biome and of the Legal Amazon region differ substantialy. The Legal Amazon region covers three different biomes: the whole of the Brazilian Amazon biome, 37% of the Cerrado biome and 40% of the Pantanal.
CBERS images
The deforestation data for the Amazon, produced by PRODES, is based on information obtained from images by China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite (CBERS) satellites.
