Brazil holds mission with Indonesean Representatives
Brazil hosted a South-South Cooperation exchange mission with representatives from Indonesia between 16 and 18 June. The study visit to Brazil, promoted by the World Bank, presented the DGM Brazil project, which is already in the implementation phase, to the National Steering Committee of the Dedicated Grant Mechanism (DGM) of Indonesia. The DGM Global programme is an initiative established under the Forest Investment Program (FIP), with the purpose of supporting Indigenous Peoples and local communities in natural resources conservation and social inclusion activities.
The Ministry of the Environment (MMA for the acronym in Protuguese) was invited to present Brazil's National REDD+ Strategy (ENREDD+ for the acronym in Portuguese), its governance structure and the instruments to promote the engagement of local peoples and communities in the implementation of the ENREDD+. The event provided the MMA an opportunity to exchange experiences with the representatives from Indonesia and also to engage with the representatives in the DGM Brazil Steering Committee, composed of representatives of indigenous peoples and traditional communities in the Cerrado biome.
