International Consultation and Analysis of RED results in the Amazon biome starts in May
The REDD+ Technical Annex presenting the results obtained by Brazil in reducing emissions from deforestation in the Amazon biome during the 2011-2015 period, submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) with the 2nd Biennial Update Report (BUR) of Brazil, will be under technical analysis by international experts, through the process known as International Consultation and Analysis (ICA).
The technical analysis will take place between May 22 and May 26. This process evaluates if the submission was developed according the Warsaw Framework for REDD+ and if it is consistent with the Forest Reference Emission Level for the Amazon biome. The document will be analyzed by a group of Land Use, Land Use Change and Forests (LULUCF) experts, nominated by the UNFCCC. The process duration is defined by Decision 14/CP. 19, it may last up to nine months – see figure bellow.

It is expected that the REDD+ Technical Annex analysis should be finished by the end of 2017. The conclusion of the analysis and the submission of Brazil's 2nd Summary of Information on the Safeguards will enable Brazil to have its REDD+ results for the 2011-2015 period posted on the Lima REDD+ Information Hub and to receive results-based payments for such results.
