Sustainable Management of Forests

Concept Sustainable management of Forests activities aim at achieving economic, social and environmental benefits while respecting the mechanisms sustaining the ecosystems under management, considering, cumulatively or alternatively, the use of multiple wood species, of multiple non-timber products and  byproducts and of other forest goods and services.
Forest Management and REDD+ The benefits of forest restoration are accumulated over several years, but require a significant set of actions and investments in the short term. Most forest management activities to enhance carbon sinks also require short-term investments. The duration and magnitude of their carbon benefits differ by region, type of action and the initial condition of a given area. In the long-term, sustainably managing forests to maintain or increase carbon stocks will generate the benefit of more sustainable mitigation, in addition to the forest products and services. At present, Brazil is equiped to meet the requirements of measurement, reporting and verification for reducing emissions from deforestation in the Amazon biome. Developing technical submissions for other REDD+ activities and other biomes is the goal we are working to achieve soon. Learn more on deforestation reduction Read about forest degradation
